I'm a Junior Software Engineer who likes to build beautiful, interactive things. Currently you'll find me building tools and websites at CCData.
Hi! I'm Alison, a junior software engineer. I landed my job at CCData in an unusual way - through volunteering at a code club for kids. It seemed like a nice bridge to cross from education to programming - and who knew it would be the catalyst for my coding career.
I re-evaluated my career path during the pandemic, after realising that being a secondary school teacher wasn't for me, and that's what lead me to web development. I first got the coding bug when I stumbled upon an udemy course and got that spark of excitement at creating my own projects from scratch.
Programming isn't completely new to me, though - I grew up with a software developer for a dad, who taught me how to use the linux command line to add tags to my mp3 files for my tiny, battery-operated mp3 player.
In 2021, I graduated from Le Wagon London, learning full-stack web development. I started out with ruby, and since then have added react, vue and node (among others) to my stack.
I've been at CCData for 2 years as a Junior Software Engineer, I've gained a lot of experience creating and maintaining Vue.js apps for the internal dashboard. Also in that time I've built the website for their brand expansion from scratch using webflow. More than your bog standard landing page, this site utilises custom code and bespoke products which push the boundaries of what can be achieved in webflow.
Learn more about the siteLabyrinth is a puzzle game built in Vue.js, it was a fun challenge to create and I'm constantly improving it. Built because I had come across the puzzle in paper format but couldn't find it in digital form anywhere! Really just a selfish project because I wanted to play more of this game.
Try and solve itTelewise is the app I created with my team in a 9-week intensive coding bootcamp at Le Wagon. Built using Ruby on Rails, it's a TV tracking app which allows users to track their tv watching and get notified about new episodes.
